This isn’t a typical Director role! It’s an opportunity to help build a business.

We’re representing a newly established cost consultancy, founded by highly successful directors with an outstanding track record in growing and leading one of the UK’s most respected firms in the sector. With a strong pipeline already in place and an ambitious growth strategy, they are now looking to appoint a Quantity Surveying Director to play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll have genuine influence over the direction of the business — from client acquisition and project delivery through to team growth, culture, and long-term strategy.

The Opportunity

You’ll join at an early stage, working closely with the founding directors to establish and grow the consultancy. While your role will include strategic input and leadership, this is very much a “roll your sleeves up” environment — ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while building something meaningful.
You’ll have the autonomy to develop client relationships, win work, and help define the service offering, all while delivering high-quality projects across sectors such as residential, commercial, and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver projects across the full lifecycle, maintaining high technical and commercial standards
  • Play a key role in business development, leveraging your network to generate new opportunities
  • Help shape the company’s growth strategy, service lines, and market positioning
  • Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team over time
  • Establish processes, systems, and best practices as the business scales
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders

About You

  • Proven experience operating at Associate Director / Director level within a cost consultancy
  • Strong network and track record of winning and delivering work
  • Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comfortable in a hands-on role within a growing business
  • MRICS qualified (or equivalent) preferred
  • Motivated by the opportunity to build, influence, and create long-term value

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to be part of a start-up backed by highly credible, successful founders
  • Genuine equity/long-term incentive potential (where applicable)
  • Autonomy to shape your role and the wider business
  • Strong pipeline of secured and prospective work
  • A chance to create a legacy, not just do a job

If you’re currently in a senior role but feel constrained by structure, or you’re ready to step into something more entrepreneurial, this is a rare opportunity to be part of building a consultancy from the ground up. With a very generous salary package on offer, this is a fantastic chance to help mould a business.
